3D Printer Pen with LCD NZ — Kids PLA + ABS Drawing Pen + 20 Colours Filament (100m), Ages 8+

$69.99 $99.99

Your starter kit for high-temperature 3D drawing. Pair the high-temp PLA/ABS 3D printing pen with 20 colours of 1.75mm PLA filament — 100m of vibrant material to draw rigid, sturdy 3D models that hold their shape.

Why a high-temp PLA pen?

This is our high-temperature pen for older kids and beginners. PLA filament melts at 175–195°C and ABS at 200–220°C — much hotter than our PCL pens (60–100°C), but the trade-off is worth it for the right age group: PLA models are stronger, glossier, and stay rigid rather than slightly bendable. Perfect for architectural builds, jewellery, ornaments, name tags, and any 3D model that needs to hold its shape under handling.

For ages 8+ with adult supervision

Because the nozzle reaches up to 220°C, this pen is best for children 8 years and older with a parent or older sibling nearby. Two finger stall thimbles are included for heat-protected grip. If you're shopping for younger kids (5–7 years), our cordless or PCL pen kits are a better starting point — those run at 60–100°C.

What's in the kit

  • 3D printing pen with LCD display, adjustable temperature, PLA + ABS dual modes, 3 speed settings, one-key load/unload
  • 20 colours of 1.75mm PLA filament — 20 individual 5m strands, 100m total
  • 2× finger stall thimbles (heat-resistant grip protection)
  • Pen holder (keeps the hot pen safely upright when not drawing)
  • USB power cable (5V / 2A — plug adapter not included)
  • PVC drawing board (smooth surface that filament releases from cleanly)
  • Sample PLA filament for first prints
  • 12-pattern instruction guide (kid-friendly templates to trace)
  • User manual

Pen features at a glance

  • LCD display shows current temperature, speed and mode
  • PLA mode (175–195°C) for everyday colours and stronger pieces
  • ABS mode (200–220°C) for high-strength prints (optional, advanced)
  • 3 speed settings (S-1 slow, S-2 medium, S-3 fast)
  • One-key load and unload filament — no fiddling
  • USB powered — works with a power bank for portable, cordless-feel drawing

How to use — 5 simple steps

  1. Plug in the pen via USB (use a power bank for portable use)
  2. Select PLA mode and your preferred speed
  3. Wait for the LCD to show the ready temperature (~30–60 seconds)
  4. Push a 5m PLA filament strand into the back of the pen and press the load button
  5. Start drawing — flat shapes on the drawing board first, then peel and assemble

Filament compatibility — IMPORTANT

This pen uses 1.75mm PLA (and ABS) filament — it does NOT work with PCL filament. If you already own PCL filament from one of our other 3D pens, please don't load it into this pen — PCL melts at 60–100°C and will overheat and char in this high-temp pen. Refill with any standard 1.75mm PLA filament when you run out.

Safety + adult supervision

  • Pen nozzle reaches up to 220°C — adult supervision is required
  • Use the included finger stalls for heat-protected grip
  • Keep the pen on its included stand when not in use
  • Do not leave the pen heated and unattended
  • Recommended for ages 8+

Frequently Asked Questions

PLA pens (like this one) heat to 175–220°C and produce strong, rigid, glossy 3D models. PCL pens heat to 60–100°C and produce slightly bendable, kid-safe results. PLA pens are best for older children (8+) with adult supervision; PCL pens are better for younger kids (5+). The two filaments are not interchangeable — each pen needs its own type.
Recommended for children aged 8 and over, with adult supervision. The pen nozzle reaches up to 220°C, which is much hotter than our low-temp PCL pens. The kit includes 2 finger stall thimbles for heat-protected grip. For younger children (5–7 years), our cordless or PCL pen kits are a safer starting point.
PLA mode runs at 175–195°C across three speed settings (S-1 low, S-2 medium, S-3 high). ABS mode runs at 200–220°C across the same three speeds. The LCD display shows the current temperature so you always know when the pen is ready to draw.
No — please don't use PCL filament in this pen. PCL melts at 60–100°C, but this pen heats to 175–220°C. Loading PCL into this pen will cause the filament to overheat, char, and clog the nozzle. This pen only accepts 1.75mm PLA or ABS filament.
The 3D printing pen, 20 colours of 1.75mm PLA filament (20 × 5m strands = 100m total), 2 finger stall thimbles, a pen holder stand, USB power cable, PVC drawing board, sample PLA filament, a 12-pattern instruction guide and the user manual. Plug adapter is not included — works with any standard USB power source or power bank.
The 20-colour bundle is the right starter pack for a first-time PLA 3D pen user — full rainbow plus enough variety for most projects. The 40-colour bundle is the better-value pack for ambitious creators, gifts, classrooms or anyone who wants every shade on hand. Both bundles include the same pen and accessories — only the filament colour count and total metres differ.
Roughly 15–25 minutes of continuous drawing per 5m strand, depending on the speed setting and how thick the lines are. PLA models stay rigid once set — peel them off the drawing board and they hold their shape under handling, perfect for ornaments, name tags and 3D builds.
